Virtual Tour ~ Trusting In The Father’s Love by Carrie Robinson with Giveaway

For most of my adult life I have arrived at destinations that had I known about from the beginning, I probably would not have chosen that particular path for my life.  That is how God deals with me.  He only ask me to trust Him in my beginning, He always leads me where I should go.  It has been no different with the writing and publishing of my first book, Trusting In the Father’s Love.  When I first agreed with God that it was time to write my story for publication, there were 10 Things I did not know about becoming a published author.

I had no idea that:

I could write my story in two months.  It took me two months to completely type forty-six years of living into a reader’s condensed version.  I thought it would take me so much longer, like maybe a year or two.  But once I started typing the words just began to flow with ease.  What I did not know was….

2.       The writing was the easy part; the real work began with the editing and proofreading process.  I had three different people read my manuscript, and then hired a professional editor to read and edit it.  This was very emotional for me.  Allowing someone else to read my life and make suggestions as to how I should make changes was not easy. I also did not realize….

3.       The number of ways to publish a book.  There are various ways that a new author can self-publish a book and I was unaware of them all.  I had to do research on the various types of publishing and choose the one that was best for me.

4.       I did not know all the ins and outs of publishing such as obtaining an ISBN number, copyright, trademarks, social media networking, designing my own website @ www.carrierobinson.org, Facebook, tweeting, and the list goes on and on.

5.       I would have to do the majority of the marketing and promotion.  I thought I would just write and sell this great book, and it is great but the work of marketing is also great.  I have an awesome Marketing Director, Ryane Cheatham, who is just fabulous and has taught me many skills, like designing my web page and staying on task with marketing and promotion.

6.       People, especially women, who would read my book would be so affected by it.  Because I lived and overcame the years of rejection and abuse, I can relate to so many women who have encountered the same situations.

7.       There were so many women from the same background as myself and my vulnerability with them would allow them to connect with me.

8.       My development in the area of trust and openly sharing my testimony would impact so many women.  I am approached by women who tell me that my book is their story and they thank me for being so open and honest in telling the truth.

9.       I would be doing radio interviews, speaking engagements and writing more books.  It is an awesome and humbling experience.  Even with all that I have had to learn throughout this experience, I would not trade it for anything.  I have learned some valuable lessons from mistakes that I have made along the way.

10.   Lastly, I had no idea how much this experience of being a published author would impact me and my family.  Because our lives are an open book for the entire world to read, we have to communicate with each other about how we feel about that.  It has brought us closer as a family and introduced us to some wonderful people along the way, like the readers that have been following my virtual book tour, blog host subscribers, and facebook fans.  I am so grateful and honored for this experience and the opportunity to share and grow as an author.

As I continue to learn about writing, publishing and promotion, I share my knowledge and information with those who also have a desire to do the same.  My journey in this literary world has only just begun and I am ready.  Thank you for your time.

Grace and Peace,
Carrie

While in high school, I heard President Kennedy’s speach establishing the Peace Corps. It was an inspiration and a goal. I worked my way through college and joined the Peace Corps. The idea of sharing the good fortune and benefits life had given me appealed. I hope I gave as much as I received during my 3 years overseas. That experience and the example given by Mother Teresa have guided me. Her example is one to make us all think about what is important in life and how we can do our best to follow in her footsteps.
