Guest Post/Virtual Tour ~ C. Elizabeth

It has been asked of me why I switched gears from writing contemporary romance, to delve into the world of young adult paranormal romance with Soul Control.  It actually happened when I was reading a fellow author who wrote in that genre.  Her work inspired me when I found, during reading, that the flow of the words were comparatively different from that which I was used to writing and with NaNoWriMo right around the corner I decided to challenge myself.

You see, the characters in my other novels have a high intellect, therefore the writing of their dialogue had to reflect that, but with Soul Control I could fall into the role of a teenager.  There was no need to use “big” words or highly intellectual gestures, I simply had fun with the usage of teenage slang with attitude and with that, the trials and tribulations that we all remember going through, followed in quick procession.

Saydi came to me as every one of my characters do and once I sat down to listen to her the words of her life flew across the pages.  Her quick-witted personality and attitude immediately rushed forward, making it incredibly fun to relay her words as she spewed them at me.  It was an amazing journey into a reality that only she could have lived and one that will have me continuing to pursue writing in this genre, as I consider it an extension of myself — another dream I never knew I had.

celizabethC. Elizabeth lives in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada and during her short writing career she’s learned a lot about herself, sometimes to the point that she wonders how the heck she got this far in life and know so little about herself.

For the majority of her life she dabbled in many things, such as drawing, photography, sewing, only to find that after a while, she would lose interest, but writing is a different story — it found her and continues to be an addiction, as well as a most wonderful, incredible passion.

Not only does she write novels, but she does whatever she can to hone her craft. Such as attending the New York Pitch Conference, seminars and the like, as well, she writes for online magazines on the topic of… you guessed it, writing.

  1. Thank you so much for having me today, it was fun. :)

  2. I worked as a children’s librarian for several years. During that time, the growth in YA paranormal/fantasy fiction was explosive. There is now so much out there for them to chose from. This is an interesting addition to the genre.
Best of luck with the release of SOUL CONTROL.

  3. I love stories about the paranormal!
